A trained eye can already see, in the first pages, what a novel is capable of — and what it's missing. You receive the reactions of the other readers, and my professional assessment: Does the text grab? Are tone, characters, and entry point working? What promise does the novel make in these opening pages?
This is also an orientation exercise. Many writers wonder whether they're ready for a full editorial assessment. In the workshop you get an honest answer: Is the manuscript already on the right track, or is there something that needs to be resolved first? A good editorial costs real money. This workshop can tell you whether the moment for it has arrived.
