We process personal data in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The relevant legal bases are:
In addition to the GDPR, German national data protection law applies, in particular the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk, taking into account the state of the art, implementation costs, and the nature and purposes of processing. These measures include securing the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data through physical and electronic access controls.
In the course of our processing activities, personal data may be transferred to third parties. Recipients may include IT service providers or providers of services and content integrated into our website. In all such cases we comply with applicable law and have concluded appropriate data processing agreements.
Where we transfer data to a third country (outside the EU/EEA), we do so in compliance with legal requirements. For transfers to the USA we rely primarily on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (DPF), recognised as an adequate safeguard by the European Commission (decision of 10 July 2023). We have also concluded standard contractual clauses with the relevant providers.
For more information on the DPF and a list of certified companies see: dataprivacyframework.gov.
We delete personal data as soon as the underlying consent is revoked or there is no longer a legal basis for processing. Under German law, the following general retention periods apply:

Contact form submissions are processed via Formspree (Formspree, Inc., USA). We have concluded a data processing agreement with Formspree. Data is transferred to the USA on the basis of the EU–US DPF and standard contractual clauses.
Legal basis: contract performance / pre-contractual measures (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Data is deleted when no longer required, typically after the enquiry has been conclusively resolved, unless retention is required by law.
